The
first master's program was in Educational Management and Direction, and it was
created as part of the School of Arts in the academic year 1968/1969, which is
six years following the establishment of The University of Jordan. In 1973, the
Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies was set up.
On June
3rd 1984, the deanship was split into two deanships: the Deanship of Scientific
Research and the Deanship of Graduate Studies. The Deans' Council recommended
the establishment of the School of Graduate Studies on June 12th 1984. The
Royal decree announcing the establishment of the School of Graduate Studies was
issued on January 2nd, 1985. The establishment of this scientific edifice aimed
at preparing high-level academic qualifications and managing the graduate
studies affairs on the university level in all humanities, scientific and
medical specializations.
Ever
since its establishment, the School of Graduate Studies has been concerned with
boosting the local and international markets with modern scientific master's
and doctoral programs as well as high specialization programs in the fields of
medicine and dentistry. It has also been working on assuring the quality of
scientific research and university theses and dissertations according to
international standards.
